Security camera footage from the city of Ełk in Poland has captured the dramatic moment a pedestrian narrowly avoided being struck by a car that was hurled toward him after a collision with a tow truck.
The video shows a car stopped at a crosswalk to allow a man to cross the street. Seconds later, a tow truck approaching from behind slams into the car's rear end with considerable force. The impact sends the stopped vehicle flying forward across the crosswalk, directly into the path of the pedestrian.
The man notices the danger and leaps backward at the last second, returning to the sidewalk and avoiding injury. According to reports, he was not hurt in the incident.
The driver of the car that was struck received medical treatment but did not suffer serious injuries and did not require extended hospitalization.
The footage was recorded by the Ełk municipality's security cameras and later released by police, who used it to warn drivers and pedestrians of the dangers on the road.
