Within hours the theory took on a life of its own, with users across social platforms sharing the footage and speculating that Trump had a body double or stand-in accompanying him at the event.
The far less dramatic explanation, according to widely circulating reports, is that the man is Viktor Knavs, the 84 year old father of First Lady Melania Trump, who was accompanying the family at the event. The resemblance was apparently enough to spark a global stir and keep viewers replaying the clip.
