The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) revealed Thursday that its troops uncovered rocket launchers hidden inside a Christian cemetery in the Daraj Tuffah area of Gaza City — further evidence, the military says, of Hamas’s deliberate use of civilian sites for terror activity.
According to an official statement by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, forces from the 401st Armored Brigade, operating under the 162nd Division, located and destroyed the launch pads after identifying them within the cemetery grounds. The site, embedded in a densely populated urban area, was allegedly used by terrorists to launch attacks against both Israeli soldiers and civilians.
Alongside this disturbing discovery, the IDF — in close coordination with elite Yahalom combat engineers — also exposed a major underground tunnel network stretching approximately six kilometers beneath central Daraj Tuffah. The majority of the tunnel system has already been demolished, the army reports.
