The First Move: Tehran Warns It Won’t Wait to Be Attacked, Threatens Pre-emptive Strikes
Tehran’s Defense Council has issued a chilling warning that it will no longer wait for an initial strike, declaring that any perceived threat will trigger an immediate and decisive preemptive attack.

The shadow of a full scale regional war has deepened following a provocative announcement from Tehran’s Defense Council, which stated on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic is prepared to launch preemptive military strikes. In a sharp departure from purely reactive policies, the council, which was formed to guide national strategy following the devastating 12 day war with Israel last June, declared that it now considers "objective signs of threat" as sufficient justification for military action. The statement emphasizes that Iran’s security, independence, and territorial integrity are "uncrossable red lines," warning that any perceived aggression will be met with a response that is both proportionate and decisive.
This shift in doctrine comes as tensions between Israel and Iran reach a boiling point. During a recent Knesset session, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a clear and public message to the leadership in Tehran, stating that the consequences of any attack on Israel would be severe. Netanyahu also emphasized his close coordination with US President Donald Trump, asserting that the two leaders will not allow Iran to restore its ballistic missile industry or its nuclear program. "We identify with the struggle of the Iranian people," Netanyahu noted, while warning that the region may be standing at a "crucial moment" in the ongoing war.
In a show of force, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has already begun large scale military exercises involving missile launches and air defense tests across several major cities, including Tehran and Shiraz. Western intelligence sources have flagged "unusual aerial activity" by the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, leading to concerns that these drills are actually a mask for a planned attack. Intelligence reports recently shared with the Trump administration suggest that these maneuvers are part of an aggressive new security equation where Iran no longer considers itself limited to reacting after an incident has already occurred.
The Iranian Defense Council justified this new stance by accusing its "long standing enemies" of using threatening language and interventionist statements that violate international law. The council claims these hostile actions are part of a targeted approach aimed at "dismembering our beloved Iran and harming the country’s identity." As the IRGC continues its missile tests and Israel maintains a high state of alert, the rhetoric from both sides suggests that the threshold for a new and more violent phase of the war has never been lower.
