The Israel Defense Forces confirmed this afternoon (Monday) that the Chief of Staff has ordered an immediate investigation into reports that emerged from Gaza earlier in the day. According to Hamas health authorities, at least 14 people were killed in an Israeli strike at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, among them four well-known media figures, including a photographer working with Reuters.
IDF Statement
In an urgent press release, the IDF Spokesperson stated:
“The Chief of Staff has instructed that an initial inquiry be conducted as soon as possible. The IDF regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals and does not, under any circumstances, deliberately target journalists as such. The IDF takes extensive measures to minimize harm to civilians, while maintaining the security of our forces.”
