The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman issued a statement on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East, revealing that negotiations between the sides are continuing while accusing the United States of lying to the world.

Esmail Baghaei, the ministry spokesman, issued a combative statement updating on progress in negotiations between the sides. According to Baghaei, "at this stage, the talks are continuing indirectly, through mediating countries."

Baghaei further claimed that America is "lying to the world" about Iran's power and its grip on the Strait of Hormuz, saying that Iranian efforts are causing significant damage that the US is working to conceal.

"The Americans' claims do not match at all what we see on the ground. They can continue to say that the Strait of Hormuz no longer matters and that the Iranians have lost their leverage. We will continue to do what we are doing. I don't think the markets will pay much attention to such claims," Baghaei said.

Baghaei concluded his remarks with a jab at the recent deal Trump closed with Putin, which included the purchase of hundreds of thousands of barrels of diesel, remarking: "If the strait is open, why did the US run to Russia to solve its diesel problems?"
