Beloved Israeli actor Daniel Gad, known for unforgettable roles in Shababnikim and HaMifratz, is taking the biggest step of his career, moving behind the camera for the first time as a creator and director, according to a report from Srugim.

Gad released a new single Tuesday, titled Le'olam Titz'adi Iti, the theme song from his upcoming documentary, The Last Derby, Sha'arayim x Marmorek. The film, produced by Naor Peretz and the Rogovin brothers, is set to premiere on July 16 at 9:30 p.m. on Kan 11 and on Kan's digital platform, Kan Box.

The documentary follows Gad as he returns to the soccer fields of his childhood in Rehovot. At its center is this question: Will the construction of a new soccer stadium in the city, at a cost of 150 million shekels, will unite the city's rival teams and bring a close to more than 70 years of local rivalry?

The new single, written and composed by Gad together with Or Milshtok and Omri Kasten, with musical production by Shauli Yitzhak and Or Kudai, marks the first release from the artist's second EP, arriving just a year after his debut album, Davar VeHipucho. The song blends hip hop rhythms with warm Mediterranean touches, built around a personal and sharp lyrical style drawing directly from local neighborhood slang, crafted as a genuine soccer anthem that any fan who knows the love of the game can feel in his gut.

Gad, who has built his standing as one of his generation's most respected actors through roles in Gallis and Maflich HaYonim, said in a statement that after years spent playing characters and helping tell stories others had written, he is for the first time stepping into the role of creator and director, bringing to the screen a story he has spent recent years documenting himself. He described the project as centered on the fateful question of whether the new stadium will finally unite the two rival teams and close out a decades long saga.

The move marks Gad's expansion beyond acting into music and documentary filmmaking, reinforcing his reputation as a multidisciplinary talent who moves fluidly between performance, songwriting, and storytelling.
