What began as a routine interview on i24NEWS quickly erupted into a political firestorm when Israeli rapper Kobi "Subliminal" Shimony launched into a passionate tirade against those considering emigration from Israel. Appearing alongside longtime collaborator Yoav "The Shadow" Eliasi on The Night Show with Daniel Roth Avnery, Subliminal did not hold back.

The controversy follows a recent petition by Israeli artists calling for an end to military operations in Gaza, a move that drew sharp criticism across the political spectrum.

Without filters or hesitation, Subliminal declared on air:

“I want to wish the best of luck to anyone who wants to leave the country. It doesn’t matter how successful you are, whether you’re a professor, a doctor, or a pilot. If you don’t feel good here, if you have no roots here, nothing worth fighting for, just leave. Too Jewish for you? Too messianic? Not liberal enough? Then leave.”

Even his co-host, Eliasi, known for his own provocative views, was visibly taken aback. “Didn’t I tell you I’m the moderate one?” he quipped with a half-nervous smile.

But Subliminal wasn’t done. He doubled down:

“Not happy here? Berlin’s fine too. There’s Palestine in Berlin.”

The timing of the outburst couldn’t be more sensitive. Public discourse in Israel is reaching a boiling point as tensions rise around the war in Gaza, cultural expression, and political protest. While artists like Idan Amedi have spoken out recently and singer Asaf Amdursky has walked back his criticism, Subliminal is taking the conversation to new extremes.

His remarks, sure to stir further division, underscore the growing fracture lines in Israeli society, not just about the war, but about identity, belonging, and what it means to be Israeli.
