Painful price of duty
Two female soldiers lose legs after devastating injuries in Gaza combat
They were injured in the attack that killed Command Sergeant Major G'haleb Sliman Alnasasra and seriously injured two additional soldiers last Saturday.

Major Nurit, who was critically wounded during operations in Gaza, has undergone a leg amputation due to the severity of her injuries. Linor, another combat soldier wounded alongside her, has also lost a leg. The update was reported by Yossi Yehoshua, military correspondent for Yedioth Ahronoth.
An investigation into the incident reveals that at 12:58 p.m., terrorists emerged from a tunnel near Israeli forces and launched an RPG at a military vehicle transporting three female combat intelligence soldiers from the northern brigade. The vehicle was traveling along an administrative route when it was struck directly by the rocket. All three soldiers sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to Israeli hospitals.
Shortly after, at 1:25 p.m., during rescue efforts, another force - led by the commander of the northern brigade and accompanied by brigade scouts - was making its way along the same route from the Beit Hanoun outpost to assist. As they approached a tunnel shaft, an explosive device planted along the path detonated.
The blast killed Command Sergeant Major G'haleb Sliman Alnasasra and seriously injured two additional soldiers. Alnasasra, 35, was a career officer from Rahat and is survived by his wife and three young daughters. He followed in the footsteps of his father, who also served in the same unit. A mourning tent has been established in Rahat, where hundreds of visitors came to pay their respects on Saturday alone.
