Bondi Beach Hero Gefen Biton to Return Home to Israel
Gefen knew what he was doing when he risked his life to diarm the gunmen on Bondi Beavh. Seconds later he was shot. Although he is in still in serious confition, he is well enough to return to Israel.

In a positive development following the tragic Bondi Beach attack, Israeli-Australian hero Gefen Biton is set to be flown back to Israel today, January 7, 2026, after undergoing eight surgeries and showing improvement in his condition.
Biton, 30, was critically injured when he was shot three times while attempting to neutralize one of the attackers during the Hanukkah massacre on December 14, 2025, at Sydney's Bondi Beach.
According to reports, Biton initially fled the scene as gunfire erupted but quickly returned to confront the terrorists, rushing toward them alongside Ahmed Al-Ahmed, who helped disarm a gunman.
Biton spent weeks in critical condition, including time in a coma, fighting for his life. Although his condition remains serious, he is now stable enough for medical evacuation to Israel for further treatment.
Australian authorities have granted him permanent residency in recognition of his bravery.
