Israeli Military Correspondent Says Disclosure of Sensitive Military Base is a 'Security Disaster'

Channel 14’s Hallel Bitton-Rosen slams a "despicable" security breach by an American journalist, calling the leak of sensitive military base data a "disaster" for Israel. The disclosure reportedly forced the IDF to divert focus from operational targets in Tehran and Beirut to manage the fallout.

A prominent Israeli military correspondent has sharply criticized a journalist from an American media outlet for publishing sensitive information about an Israeli military base, describing the incident as "one of the security disasters of the State of Israel."

Hallel Bitton-Rosen, military correspondent for Channel 14, made the remarks during the network's evening news broadcast last night. He accused the foreign journalist of violating implicit censorship guidelines that Israeli reporters had observed.

According to Bitton-Rosen, the disclosure forced Israel's Intelligence Directorate (Aman) and the Air Force to divert resources and attention away from planned operational targets in Tehran and Beirut. He characterized the act as "absurd and despicable" and said it harmed national security at a critical time.

"While other field reporters respected censorship orders, this breach has damaged our efforts," Bitton-Rosen stated. He called for immediate sanctions against those responsible and urged journalists to refrain from cooperating with what he termed "underhanded schemes" that actively harm the State of Israel.

Background on Israel's Military Censorship

Israel maintains a military censor that can restrict publication of security-sensitive information, particularly during periods of heightened tensions or active operations. Domestic media outlets frequently coordinate with the censor on matters involving military bases, troop movements, and operational planning.

The specific details disclosed by the American journalist, and the identity of the outlet, were not named in the broadcast.

Channel 14's segment, aired during the 6 PM news hour with host Shimon Riklin, has circulated widely on social media.

No official confirmation or denial from the IDF or government has been issued as of Monday morning.
