Israel to mourn 319 more people this year

Israel has lost over 300 more fallen in the defense of the country, in addition to some 61 who died from disabilities incurred during their service.

Israel announced today (Monday) that the total number of fallen from Arab hostilities from 1860 to today numbers 25,420 in total. 319 fallen were added this year, in addition to 61 who died from disabilities incurred as the result of their service.

Here is the full official statement:

"Eve of Memorial Day 5785 (2025) - The Ministry of Defense updates the count of Israel's fallen since 1860 until today: 25,420

"This figure includes an IDF soldier and an Israel Police officer who fell during the weekend in battles in Gaza, and another casualty whose circumstances of death are still under investigation.

"Since Memorial Day 5784 until today, 319 casualties have been added to the count of the fallen, as well as 61 disabled veterans who died as a result of their disabilities and were recognized during the year as casualties of Israel's campaigns.

"The Ministry of Defense shares in the grief of the bereaved families. The Families, Commemoration and Heritage Division, together with the IDF and security forces, will continue to accompany the bereaved families and stand by their side during these difficult times."
