"My son was very happy"
"We Don't Understand": Father Defends Daycare Teacher at Site of Jerusalem Tragedy
A parent of a toddler at the Jerusalem daycare defends the staff, calling it an "excellent" place with "warm treatment," and rejects claims that children slept in bathrooms.

Amidst the shock and allegations of negligence surrounding the Romema daycare disaster that left two infants dead, a father of one of the toddlers has spoken out in defense of the staff, describing the facility as "excellent" and rejecting claims of mistreatment.
Moshe, whose son survived the incident, spoke to i24NEWS at the scene shortly after the tragedy unfolded. While police investigate reports of severe overcrowding and safety violations, Moshe offered a starkly different perspective on the daily operations of the nursery.
Reflecting the sentiments of the local Ultra-Orthodox community, Moshe described the event in spiritual terms rather than purely as a failure of safety.
"We are in sorrow over the children who passed away; this is a 'heavenly thing' (Divine decree)," Moshe said. "We are at the start of the month of Shevat, and we simply do not understand what happened."
Despite reports that infants were found sleeping in bathrooms and closets, Moshe insisted that his experience had been positive.
"It is an excellent kindergarten, with an excellent teacher whom I cannot praise enough," he stated. "We have been sending children here for several years. My son came out happy every day, and he received warm treatment."
Addressing the specific allegations regarding the conditions inside, Moshe expressed skepticism: "People here said children slept in the bathroom, that is not common and does not seem logical to me. My son was happy to go to kindergarten every morning."
Moshe stated that he located his son about an hour and a half after the disaster in stable condition. When asked if he would continue to send his children to the facility in the future, his answer was surprising given the day's events.
"To this specific teacher? If my wife agrees, and they say everything is proper and has all the permits, certainly, with joy," he concluded.
