Minister and Brigadier General (Res.) Miri Regev, who is in charge of Israel's 77th anniversary events, announced today (Tuesday) to three Mossad intelligence and special operations officers who led the pager operation in Lebanon that they have been selected by the public advisory committee to jointly light a ceremonial torch at Mount Herzl on Independence Day.

R, a 49-year-old woman from central Israel, commanded the pager operation in the Mossad's operational division. In her role, she led all operational activities, including agent handling, establishing infrastructure and cover companies, while coordinating operational activities across technology, intelligence, and infrastructure channels.

D is a technological leader in the Mossad's operations technology division. He led a technological team that addressed the numerous technical challenges posed by the pager operation and demonstrated groundbreaking capabilities to ensure the operation's secrecy over time and its synchronized, powerful, and precise execution at the critical moment.

N is an intelligence officer in the intelligence directorate who initiated and promoted dozens of intelligence operations targeting the Hezbollah terrorist organization. He led the intelligence response in partnership with many intelligence and collection personnel from the initial concept of the pager operation through its development, planning, and exceptional implementation.

Minister Regev stated: "The three Mossad officers - R, D, and N - stand together with their organization colleagues behind this defining operation that will go down in the history of operational achievements worldwide. The completely surprising detonation of thousands of pagers across Lebanon, along with thousands of additional communication devices the following day, led to breaking the spirit of the Hezbollah terrorist organization. These operations were planned to create a significant impact on the enemy's fighting spirit as part of a broader joint campaign with the IDF to defeat them.

"The pager operation marked a dramatic and decisive turning point in the northern front campaign, which contributed significantly to undermining the Hezbollah terrorist organization and to Israel's impressive achievements in weakening the Iranian-led axis of evil. The three Mossad representatives will together light a joint torch, highlighting Israel's operational, intelligence, and technological strength. The unique technology was based on groundbreaking creativity in security bodies and defense industries. The pager operation created fear among our enemies throughout the region and instilled confidence among our people and our friends worldwide regarding Israel's strength and deterrence capabilities. Choosing these Mossad men and women is the Israeli people's way of thanking you and all the shadow operatives who stand guard day and night."
