A mysterious explosion caused the death of four people, near the place where Revolutionary Guards forces were training in firing artillery shells and missiles, Iran International reported today (Monday).

According to the report, the explosion took place in the city of Islamabad-e-Grab in western Iran in a residential neighborhood in the city where several buildings were destroyed. The local authorities were quick to claim that the explosion occurred due to a fault in a gas pipe, but the local gas company claimed that all its systems were safe and working.

The real reason that led to the explosion is not yet known, but it could be a failed launch by the Revolutionary Guards. The failure of Iranian missile systems is a common phenomenon and experts estimate that during the firing of missiles at Israel in April, at least half of the ballistic missiles fired by Iran failed and landed far from their intended target.
