Following Eyal Golan's call to "'wipe out Gaza and not leave a single person there", the state attorney recommended that the legal advisor to the government open a criminal investigation against the singer, on suspicion of inciting violence against the residents of Gaza.

At the heart of the claim against Golan, attorney Amit Isman pointed to the things that were said in the same interview the singer conducted a few days after October 7. Now the decision is headed by Gali Beharev Miara, the legal advisor to the government.

Golan's words even appeared in the lawsuit document that South Africa submitted to the Hague Tribunal, alongside statements by senior Israeli officials, members of the Knesset, journalists, lecturers, soldiers who fought in Gaza and others.

In the statement of claim, a whole chapter was dedicated to this, called "expressions with intent to commit genocide against the Palestinian people by officials of the State of Israel, and others".
