Arab networks revealed the name of the terrorist who carried out yesterday's attack (Tuesday) at the Tayaseer checkpoint in the Jordan Valley - Muhammad Daragmeh - a military operative in the Tubas Battalion, who was arrested by the Palestinian Authority in May 2024 and released from detention last November.

The terrorist's brother is Ahmed Daragmeh, a senior Islamic Jihad operative in the Tubas area of Samaria who was killed by the IDF a year ago.

Yesterday, at 6 a.m., the terrorist attacked IDF forces who were leaving the checkpoint to patrol. Reserve Sgt. Tzvika Friedman and Master Sergeant (res.) Ofer Yung, 39, were killed.

The terrorist ambushed both of them at the entrance to the post, carrying a vest, an M-16 rifle and two magazines. The IDF believes that the terrorist sneaked into the post on foot during the night and confronted the soldiers at first light.

The IDF said that the terrorist attacked the two fighters from a very short distance of a few meters. Afterwards, an exchange of fire began between the terrorist who was at the entrance to the post and the forces inside the post, in the order of a squad of 11 fighters. During the exchange of fire, the terrorist also went inside the post and into the pillbox.

The terrorist then tried to flee the scene, but one of the fighters from the battalion commander threw a shrapnel grenade at him – hitting him. At this point, the shooting stopped, and the soldiers reached the terrorist and made sure that he had been neutralized.
