Likud has delivered an ultimatum to former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, demanding he remove three videos from his social media accounts by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow or face an urgent petition to the chairman of the Central Elections Committee.
The formal demand, sent through attorney Ilan Bombach, accuses Eisenkot of violating election law by posting content that presents Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in what the party calls a "distorted manner." The three videos in question were published on September 15 across Facebook, Instagram, and X.
According to Likud's letter, the videos feature an image of Netanyahu that was digitally created or manipulated, alongside quotes and audio clips attributed to him. Each video carried the caption: "Netanyahu, remember this?"
The party argues the posts constitute clear election propaganda designed to influence voters' political positions and promote Eisenkot's electoral list. Likud claims the material violates Section 13 of the Elections Law, which prohibits campaign propaganda by one list that constitutes unfair interference with another list's campaigning.
In its complaint, Likud contends that presenting Netanyahu in what it describes as a "distorted manner while his image was manipulated as accurately as possible" violates his right to present his positions fairly. The party further alleges that quotes and audio segments in the videos were presented partially and out of context.
