Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beiteinu party has released recordings of calls it says were received at its offices in recent days, containing ethnic slurs, death wishes and threats the party attributes to opponents of its campaign for universal military conscription.
Among the phrases heard in the recordings: "We don't want you in the country, go back to Russia"; "May your name be erased, may you die"; "I'm a proud deserter"; "A gang of cursed evil thieves"; "Burn in hell."
The party said in a statement that the calls followed threats on social media and what it described as racist content from coalition parties. "In the past day, Yisrael Beiteinu's offices have been receiving hate calls and messages from draft dodgers, including curses, threats, insults and racist expressions," the statement said.
The party said the calls would not deter it. "The incitement and racism will not intimidate us. We will continue to fight for conscription for all and for the citizens who work and serve."
