Man bitten by snake in Jerusalem street

Unusual winter incident in Shmuel HaNavi neighborhood: Ichud Hatzalah medics treated the victim at the scene before evacuating him to Hadassah Har HaTzofim

The ambulance at the hospital

A 33-year-old chareidi man was evacuated to hospital by Ichud Hatzalah ambulance after being bitten by a snake on a Jerusalem street, in an unusual medical incident for this time of year.

The victim was evacuated from Shmuel HaNavi Street in stable condition, according to medical personnel.

Ichud Hatzalah medics Ari Weiss, Binyamin Fishel and Yaakov Ostri, members of the organization's rapid-response unit, treated the man at the scene. "According to passersby, he was bitten by a snake," they said. "After providing medical care on site, he was evacuated by Ichud Hatzalah ambulance to Hadassah Har HaTzofim Medical Center in stable condition and fully conscious."

A snakebite in the heart of a built-up urban area is considered rare and unusual, particularly at this time of year when reptile activity is not typical.
