An unusual incident occurred last night (Sunday) as French President Emmanuel Macron was preparing to disembark from the plane upon landing in Vietnam. Footage that circulated globally and went viral showed the French president being punched in the face by his wife Brigitte, just before he realized he was being filmed and waved at the cameras.

Sources from the Élysée Palace responded to the media that this was a moment of "mutual partnership," implying that the gesture towards the president was made in jest. As mentioned, the subsequent images led many to believe that the president was indeed suffering from physical violence from his wife.

"It was a moment when the president and his wife relaxed for the last time before the trip by laughing. It was a moment of cooperation," said members of Macron's entourage following numerous responses on social media.

These comments were made by sources in the Élysée, after initially denying the video that was filmed yesterday evening in Hanoi. Immediately afterwards, he disembarked from the plane with his wife, with the two appearing distant from each other and their faces grim, reinforcing the assumption that something unpleasant indeed happened on the presidential plane.
