Major diplomatic breakthrough

Trump to Host Lebanese President Joseph Aoun Amid Historic Lebanon-Israel Peace Push

Lebanese media outlet MTV reports that U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun "in the near future." The summit follows Trump’s bold pledge to bring Israeli and Lebanese leaders to the White House for their first joint talks in over four decades.

The regional diplomatic landscape shifted again Monday as reports emerged of an upcoming high-level meeting between President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. While a specific date and location have yet to be confirmed, the news signals a rapid acceleration of the peace process initiated by the White House.

The report follows a high-stakes phone call last week between the two leaders, during which Trump informed Aoun that a ceasefire was "expected to be announced within hours." The Lebanese presidency later confirmed that Trump expressed a firm commitment to Lebanon's request for a swift cessation of hostilities.

Shortly after that call, Trump officially announced the ceasefire via his social media platform, Truth Social, and laid out a historic vision for regional reconciliation.

Trump has explicitly stated his intention to host both President Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. He characterized the move as a return to the negotiating table for the first time in 43 years.

"I will be inviting Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel and President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon to the White House for the first productive joint talks since 1983 - a long time ago," Trump wrote. "Both sides want peace, and I believe it will happen quickly!"

Regional Implications

The upcoming meeting takes place against a backdrop of intense negotiations. Lebanon’s MTV reported that the summit is "planned to take place soon," as the U.S. administration pushes for a sustainable resolution to the conflict.

By bringing the Lebanese president into direct dialogue alongside Israeli leadership, Trump aims to bypass decades of friction and deliver a "fast" peace agreement, fulfilling his campaign-era promises to stabilize the Middle East.
