US President Donald Trump on Thursday evening dismissed reports suggesting he is considering ending American military operations against Iran due to concerns about weapons and ammunition supplies. The president insisted that US forces possess sufficient munitions to continue strikes and military action if necessary.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump addressed what he called "traitorous scum" in the media who he accused of inaccurate reporting on the Iran operation. "We have nearly unlimited quantities of medium to high-grade ammunition, far more than we could ever use in this war, or any other war (which is highly unlikely!)," the president wrote.
He added that the United States is "producing ammunition at levels never seen before [and] stockpiling and preparing for every possible scenario," explaining that the US is keeping weapons for its own use rather than selling them to others, though sales to American allies "will resume soon."
The president concluded by contrasting his approach with that of his predecessor, claiming the Biden administration gave Ukraine far more ammunition "without getting anything in return" than the US has used in the Iran conflict.
He alleged that "hundreds of billions of dollars were given to Ukraine and NATO for free, when Europe was willing to pay for it if only they had been asked." Trump vowed to seek that money from European allies, "albeit somewhat belatedly."
