How Israel’s Fetishization of Peace Fuels War

Israel's Compassion leads to Endless Wars

Behind the mask of moral superiority lies a destructive cycle - where pacifism toward a genocidal enemy leads not to peace, but to the continued killing of innocents.

The Israeli media’s striking empathy for the suffering of Gazan Arabs, and its relentless headlines on their pain, seems to rely on a simple assumption: that the Israeli public has a short memory.

History proves them right. Again and again, Israel’s leadership and media have successfully manipulated public perception - often rewriting the most basic truths through repetition and selective outrage.

This context makes the fierce backlash against Yair Golan’s comment - that Israel has a "hobby of killing babies" - worth deeper examination. At face value, such a statement is offensive and false. But look closer. Isn’t obsessively highlighting the enemy’s suffering, while minimizing their genocidal intent, a strange and inverted form of that same impulse?

There’s a bitter irony here: showing excessive empathy toward a population that openly and repeatedly calls for your annihilation is not a sign of moral superiority - it may, in fact, be a form of cruelty. Because so long as Gaza remains filled with those who are committed to continuing the fight, any pause in violence will only be temporary. And when the next round inevitably comes, those Israelis who advocated "compassion" today will have helped ensure tomorrow’s bloodshed.

In this light, Yair Golan’s outrageous words align disturbingly well with the pacifist, hyper-moralistic stance the Israeli media has taken. A stance that refuses to grapple with the basic logic of survival: showing mercy to a sworn enemy who sees that mercy as weakness is not noble - it’s a death sentence to all - including, and especially, arab babies.

In that sense, it is actually Golan’s own ideological allies whose “hobby” leads to the deaths of Arab children - not out of hatred, but through a naive pacifism that guarantees perpetual rounds of war.

Tragically, across Israel’s government, media, defense, and judicial systems, it is often the very people who pride themselves on moral restraint who are, in practice, sustaining a reality of unending death.

Ironically, those most deserving of Golan’s accusation are not the right-wing hawks (very few of whom are really around still), but the self-identified left-wing humanitarians, and fake right-wingers, like Bibi and his coalition.

Nothing kills more Arab children than the repeated attempts to make peace with their parents who raise those very children to hate, fight, and kill.

That kind of peace - empty, desperate, and delusional - ensures the war never ends. And the cost is blood.

So maybe Golan was talking about himself?.
