AI Barber? Viral Video Sparks Debate

Indian barber wired with cameras and sensors during haircut to train AI systems. The footage could one day teach robots to perform complex tasks that once required human skill, but would you trust a machine with a razor?

AI Barber? Viral Video Shows Robot Training That Has Everyone Talking

Artificial intelligence is already penetrating fields once thought entirely dependent on human skill, and a new video posted by Indian industrialist Harsh Goenka is raising an extraordinary question: could even the barbering profession be transformed by AI?

The video shows a barber cutting a customer's hair while connected to an advanced system that includes a head-mounted camera, harness, sensors, and tracking devices on his wrists. The system records his movements as he performs a routine haircut, with the goal of analyzing hand motions, body posture, angles, and techniques he employs.

The data could be used in the future to train artificial intelligence systems or robots that would know how to perform complex physical tasks by learning from human movements.

The video sparked online debate about the possibility that AI will reach even traditional professions. One commenter wrote: "No matter how advanced technology gets, I'd rather trust a human barber with shaky hands than a robot with a software update."

Another summed it up: "I really don't trust a robot to cut my hair or beard. I only trust my barber."
