Tobey Maguire officiated ex-wife's wedding

Tobey Maguire flew to Hawaii to conduct the ceremony for jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer and her new husband, less than a month after their decade-long divorce was finalized

Spider-Man Star Officiated His Ex-Wife's Wedding — Three Weeks After Their Divorce

An unusual weekend unfolded on the Hawaiian island of Lanai, where actor Tobey Maguire, best known for playing Spider-Man, attended the wedding of his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer. But he wasn't just a guest: Maguire, 51, officiated the ceremony himself, marrying Meyer to her new partner, Jeffrey Ogundele, at the luxury Four Seasons resort.

The wedding took place last Saturday, less than three weeks after Meyer and Maguire's divorce was finalized. The two married in 2007, separated in 2016, filed for divorce only in 2020, and concluded the process, which stretched nearly a decade, on September 21 of this year.

A blended family that works

The former couple share two children: Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17, both of whom attended the wedding. Also present was Meyer and Ogundele's infant daughter, born earlier this year. According to reports, the guest list included prominent Hollywood names such as Leonardo DiCaprio and his partner Vittoria Ceretti, actress Courteney Cox, Rachel Zoe, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

Meyer, a 49-year-old jewelry designer, and Ogundele began dating in the summer of 2023. Later that year they appeared together on the red carpet, and in August 2024 Meyer announced their engagement. Ogundele, son of Nigerian billionaire Adebayo Ogundele, is a lawyer and investment banker who serves as founder and CEO of a management company for artists in the music and entertainment industries.

"He's an amazing dad and an amazing ex-husband"

The choice of Maguire to officiate the ceremony comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with what Meyer has said about their family dynamic. In an interview with People magazine in May, she described a blended family that has managed to maintain strong bonds: "We travel together. We spend every holiday together. We spend every birthday together."

Of Maguire himself, Meyer added: "He's an amazing dad. He's an amazing ex-husband. And Jeffrey loves him and he loves Jeffrey. So it all just works." Those words explain the unusual decision to ask him to conduct the ceremony, a gesture that speaks to the level of maturity and mutual trust between the former spouses.

This story joins a series of examples in Hollywood of blended families that succeed in maintaining warm relationships even after divorce. Maguire, who achieved worldwide fame for his role as Peter Parker in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy in the 2000s, continues to prove that even off-screen he knows how to play the part of a hero, this time in real life.
