Israeli actor Dan Turgeman will soon begin serving time behind bars after the Tel Aviv District Court accepted the prosecution's appeal and upgraded his sentence from nine months of community service to ten months of actual imprisonment.
The case dates back to 2018, when a police investigation and analysis of his bank accounts revealed that between 2008 and 2017, Turgeman failed to report income exceeding 3 million shekels. A search of his home uncovered numerous contracts in which he was listed as a "construction entrepreneur" in the community of Beit Aryeh, alongside an additional 576,000 shekels in unreported rental income, according to a report by Shimon Ifergan on Mako.
Turgeman is scheduled to begin serving his sentence on March 1, 2027, at either Hermon or Tzalmon Prison. The only silver lining for him in the hearing was a significant reduction in his fine, from 200,000 shekels to just 60,000 shekels, which will require the state to refund him 140,000 shekels.
