Teen Killed in Hadera Hit-and-Run; Driver Shot and Arrested

A serious criminal incident occurred overnight Thursday into Friday at the Village shopping center in Hadera, leaving a 17-year-old dead after being run over by a vehicle.

According to Israel Police, the incident began with a confrontation between the parties, during which the 17-year-old was run over. Gunfire followed. The teen sustained critical injuries from being struck by the vehicle and was later pronounced dead. The driver suffered light injuries from the shooting and was evacuated for medical treatment.

MDA's 101 emergency hotline in the Sharon region received the call at 1:40 a.m. Paramedic Yiska Ben Nun and EMTs Victor Goltz and Yonatan Yankelevitz described the difficult scene: "When we arrived at the location, we were led to the victim who was lying in the parking lot of a shopping center after being struck by a vehicle. He was unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe head trauma."

MDA teams immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts and evacuated the teen in an intensive care ambulance to the hospital while continuing resuscitation, with his condition defined as critical. United Hatzalah volunteers Liron Amar and Revit Pilus reported that they provided initial medical aid to a young man around 20 years old who had been struck by a commercial vehicle. Together with additional volunteers, they performed life-saving resuscitation before he was evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in critical condition. The teen was later pronounced dead.

Large police forces from the Hadera station arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. Following a situational assessment, the investigation was assigned to the Menashe District investigative unit. Police emphasized that based on the suspicion and background examined at this stage, the incident appears to be criminal in nature, with no suspicion of a terror attack.

The driver, who was wounded by gunfire, was arrested after receiving medical treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
