Eight-Year-Old's Finger Severed in Heavy Door at Bnei Brak Cheder

An eight-year-old boy was seriously injured at a cheder in Bnei Brak on Monday morning when a heavy door slammed shut on his hand, severing a finger completely.

Ichud Hatzalah medics who were called to the scene gave the boy initial medical treatment and evacuated him to hospital. The severed portion of the finger was placed in a bag of ice in an attempt to save it.

Moshe Freilich, an Ichud Hatzalah medic who treated the boy, said the injury occurred when a heavy door slammed on the child's finger, severing it entirely.

"His friends told us that a heavy door slammed on his finger and it was severed," Freilich said. "With the help of additional medics, I gave him medical treatment and we placed the severed part of the finger in a bag of ice, and then he was evacuated to hospital, where doctors will try to save and reattach the finger."
