A video captures how Rafi Harpaz was attacked while sitting in a restaurant in Korea with his family; the embassy was quick to condemn: "He will continue to proudly represent Israel"

A video showing Israel's ambassador to Korea, Rafi Harpaz, being attacked while sitting in a restaurant in South Korea with his family, by pro-Palestinian demonstrators was circulated on social media.
Following the release of the video, the Israeli embassy issued a strong condemnation: "The Israeli embassy in Korea condemns the attack against Israel's ambassador to Korea, Rafi Harpaz, and his family. Israel's ambassador to Korea will continue to proudly represent Israel. The demonstrators are a small radical group that supports terrorism and the destruction of Israel. We thank many of the Korean public for sending us messages of support after the shameful event."
Israel's ambassador to Korea, Rafi Harpaz, was born and raised in the Beit HaKerem neighborhood of Jerusalem. In recent years, Harpaz has served as Israel's ambassador around the world, beginning as Israel's ambassador to Azerbaijan (2012-2015), from where he moved on to another position as Israel's ambassador to the Philippines (2018-2021), and then reaching his position as Israel's ambassador to South Korea in 2024.
Harpaz was decorated with the Order of Sikatuna by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte during his farewell meeting with the President on June 16, 2021 at the President's Palace in Manila. In the explanatory notes for winning the Medal of Honor, it was noted that Harpaz made a unique contribution to the Philippines and also worked tirelessly to promote Israel's relations with the Philippines in the fields of promoting business, innovation, agriculture, security, and foreign workers.
