The British singer, visiting Israel this week, arrived at the Kotel alongside World Jewish Congress Israel president Sylvan Adams and prayed for peace in Israel and the world. There are places that make you feel the presence of those you love, he said.

British pop star Boy George visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Monday afternoon, accompanied by businessman and philanthropist Sylvan Adams, president of the World Jewish Congress in Israel.

The two prayed for peace in the State of Israel, the region and people across the world. Boy George placed a note between the stones of the Kotel and spoke emotionally about his family and the meaning of the visit to the holy site.

"Standing here at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, I think of my mother, who would have been so happy to be here, my father, and all the people close to my heart," Boy George said.

He continued: "There are places that make you feel the presence of those you love, wherever they are. This is one of them, a moment of gratitude, introspection, love and prayer. May we all find peace."

Adams spoke about the significance of the visit: "Boy George and I stood together today at the Western Wall and prayed for peace for Israel, our neighbors and the entire world. Here in Jerusalem, at the heart of our people's history, it meant a great deal to have a friend standing beside us."

Adams also addressed the pressure placed on international artists to boycott Israel: "The hate-mongers want to isolate Israel. They pressure artists to boycott us and turn their backs on our people."

"George chose to come, to perform for his Israeli fans and to support the survivors of the Nova festival and bereaved families," Adams said. "He showed courage and true friendship. I am proud to welcome him to our country."
