Is Trump antisemitic? Half of American Jews say the answer is yes
With antisemitism on the rise, a new poll shows growing fear that Trump’s influence is part of the problem, not the solution.

Roughly half of American Jewish voters say U.S. President Donald Trump is antisemitic, and a clear majority disapprove of his handling of antisemitism overall, according to a new poll by GBAO Strategies.
The survey found that 52% of Jewish voters say the label “antisemitic” describes Trump very or somewhat well, despite his administration’s stated efforts to combat antisemitism on college campuses.
While Trump’s recent push to defund universities and deport foreign pro-Palestinian students has been promoted as a crackdown on antisemitism, only a quarter of Jewish voters believe those moves actually reduce antisemitism. Nearly half, 49%, say the university funding cuts have made things worse, while 61% believe deporting student protesters has also inflamed antisemitic sentiment.
The poll shows deep dissatisfaction with Trump among Jewish voters: 74% disapprove of his presidency, and nearly 70% describe him as both “fascist” and “racist.” Most respondents also voiced concern over antisemitism in both the broader U.S. and college campuses specifically; yet 64% said Trump is failing in his efforts to address the issue.
In a related finding, the survey also reflects waning attachment to Israel among American Jews amid the current Israel-Hamas war, and strong criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
