Pentagon launches FORTRESS initiative to make bases self-sufficient for 90 days

The Pentagon's FORTRESS initiative aims to enable major U.S. military bases to operate independently for at least 90 days without civilian power, external fuel, water, or global supply chains. The program includes portable nuclear reactors, battery storage, and independent microgrids for power generation. Strategic reserves of ammunition, fuel, and spare parts are also part of the plan. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated: "Power is combat now."
