TASS: Netanyahu speaks to Putin

According to the report, the two spoke of the importance of maintaining the memory of WWII and celebrating the Red Army veterans in Israel.

The Russian news agency TASS reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke today (Tuesday) with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with their conversation focused on WWII.

The two leaders reportedly discussed the importance of preserving the memory of WWII and celebrating the veterans of the Red Army who defeated the Nazis, with official Victory Day being marked on May 8, the date of Germany's official surrender to the Allies.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this evening with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders exchanged warm greetings on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. The Prime Minister emphasized the decisive contribution of the Red Army to the victory over the Nazis, and highlighted the significance of the many Jewish commanders and fighters in the war. In addition, the Prime Minister and the Russian President discussed developments in the region."
