Piers Morgan Blocks Gazan Journalist Who Begged Him for Help

Media coverage of Abd Rabou's situation has emerged in recent weeks.

On August 13, Abd Rabou tagged Morgan in a post: "Piers Morgan.. People have been tagging you, asking you to share my story from Gaza. I don’t know you, but I believe your voice could make a difference. I’m trapped and in danger, please read my tweets and help bring attention to my situation."

This plea followed reports of Abd Rabou being assaulted by Hamas operatives for his social media criticism of the group. On August 25, he escalated his criticism, writing: "Piers Morgan is biased and unfair. He ignores urgent calls to highlight my suffering in Gaza, choosing only what suits his agenda. Watching silently without action is not neutrality, it’s negligence."

An article in Israel Hayom the next day reported what had happened. Similarly, an Italian outlet, Libero Quotidiano, published a story on August 22, 2025, describing Abd Rabou as a "forgotten Palestinian journalist in Gaza because he doesn't stand with Hamas," questioning the lack of outrage from international media and activists over his plight.

Yesterday, he noted, "Piers Morgan has blocked me on X after I criticized him. At least now I know he’s well aware of my case, but he chose to avoid admitting that he is on the wrong side."

In a post garnering over 367,000 views, Abd Rabou stated that the block confirms Morgan's awareness of his case but unwillingness to acknowledge being "on the wrong side."

This incident aligns with Morgan's well-documented history of blocking individuals on X who publicly disagree with him or criticize his views, a tactic he has employed throughout his social media presence.

Morgan's blocking spree dates back years and has targeted celebrities, journalists, and activists alike. In 2011, he permanently banned actor Hugh Grant from his CNN and ITV shows and implied a Twitter block, after Grant criticized the tabloid press, tweeting that Grant was a "tedious little man." In 2017, he blocked comedian Kathy Burke after she mocked him for falling for a hoax tweet about a celebrity's death; Morgan later apologized in 2023, suggesting a "mutual de-blocking," but the initial action highlighted his quick resort to blocking dissenters. More recently, in 2022, Morgan blocked former GB News anchor Simon McCoy following a heated exchange over his show's viewing figures, calling McCoy "bitter" before cutting off interaction. That same year, he engaged in a public spat with far-right activist Tommy Robinson, blocking him amid accusations of spreading "dangerous lies." Even his own son, Spencer Morgan, has clashed with him on X over issues like the Russia-Ukraine conflict, though they resolved it without a block.

Critics, including media analysts, have described Morgan's Twitter behavior as a "sinister cultural force," where he defends his on-air controversies by blocking and insulting detractors, often retweeting praise while dismissing criticism as "nonsense" or "crap." This pattern has fueled perceptions of him as a "one-man clickbait machine" who thrives on division but silences opposition online.

Abd Rabou's story echoes the dangers faced by dissenting voices within Gaza amid the protracted war. He has expressed regret over returning to Gaza after travels to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Turkey, stating on August 26, "Life in Gaza has made me hate myself, I just wish I were anywhere outside." In multiple posts, he has urged countries and institutions to facilitate his evacuation, noting failed attempts to leave and worsening health issues. One such appeal on August 25 targeted the UAE: "I deeply appreciate the UAE’s role in Gaza. However, I kindly ask for your help to facilitate my travel to the UAE."

Besides for his shocking and heartbreaking story, what stands out is Piers Morgan who has become even more famous and successful (if you could call it that), riding on the coattails of the Israel-Hamas war.

But when it doesn't sound him, he simply, pathetically, pushes the 'block' button and moves along.
