On October 7, Maya Regev was kidnapped by Hamas along with her brother Itay the Nova music festival. Shot in the ankle while trying to escape, she was operated on in Gaza to reattach her dangling foot, but her foot was reattached incorrectly, at a strange angle.

She was released after 51 days in captivity and since then has undergone more operations and months of debilitating pain. She just had another surgery at Tel Hashomer to remove the braces from her legs. In terms of her physical recuperation, she still has a long journey ahead of her.

Maya Regev's ordeal, marked by unimaginable trauma and resilience, underscores the profound impact of her captivity. Her physical and emotional recovery is a testament to her strength and determination.
