In a briefing given to state media channels including al-Qahera News, a senior Egyptian official denied IDF revelations of dozens of usable smuggling tunnels between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

A senior Egyptian official speaking to state media channel al-Qahera Nera today (Monday) denied IDF revelations of dozens of tunnels along the corridor between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, some of which could be used for smuggling weapons and other items.
Forces of the 162nd Division and the Yahalom combat engineering unit have been working lately to discover and destroy underground tunnels in the Rafah area, including those connecting the Gaza Strip with Egypt. So far, the IDF has destroyed dozens such tunnels.
Among the tunnels the IDF discovered were ones large enough for vehicles to traverse, including one tunnel which was three meters deep.
The IDF said it will systematically destroy all the underground infrastructure in the Philadelphi corridor and work with determination to prevent their creation in the future.
