Magal to Caspit: "Can't broadcast with you"

The two hosts of Israel's most-talked-about radio show say on air they may have reached the end of the road: Let's get through the elections and decide whether we're continuing then.

Yinon Magal to Ben Caspit: I Can't Broadcast with You Anymore

Is Israel's most-discussed daily radio show heading for a breakup? During Monday morning's broadcast on Radio 103FM, hosts Yinon Magal and Ben Caspit openly discussed the possibility of dissolving their on-air partnership, acknowledging they may have reached the end of their shared road.

Magal opened the conversation: "I think we've exhausted this. Look, until the elections no one's going to cut it off, because we need to do the work. But I no longer feel I can broadcast with a person like you. Your entire base tells you not to broadcast with a person like me. Let's do the elections, see who wins, and think whether we're continuing this event. No?"

Caspit surprised by agreeing with his studio partner: "It's funny. That's exactly the conclusion I reached with the CEO a few months ago. Look how things work out and fall into place in the end. There was a period when I left, I had exactly those thoughts, and we agreed we'd get to the elections and think. You've burst through a very open door."

Magal responded: "I think we've reached our breaking point," to which Caspit replied: "Yes, it's a shame we reached our breaking point so late."

Later in the broadcast, Caspit explained why he continued broadcasting alongside Magal despite pressure from his audience: "I'll tell you what I answer the base every time they say I'm normalizing you or giving you a platform: I say that in this era, when every tribe in Israel is locked inside a hermetically sealed media bubble and completely not listening, not knowing, not hearing and not paying attention to the other side, and Netanyahu's devout supporters are locked in a bubble where the main thing is Channel 14, Galei Israel and a few other places, they don't read my columns in Maariv and Walla, unfortunately. The only place I can speak to them is here. And I'm not saying that lightly, they reach out to me in droves."
