Winter: Won't join opposition coalition

Amcha Yisrael chairman says he will not sit with Golan and Arab parties: Gadi with Yair Golan and the Arabs is not an option for me

Ofer Winter Rules Out Joining Opposition Coalition: Not Under Any Circumstances

Res. Brigadier General Ofer Winter, chairman of the Amcha Yisrael party, has shut the door on any possibility of joining a government led by the opposition bloc.

Speaking at the "People of the State" conference hosted by Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, Winter addressed scenarios in which the mandate to form a government would be given to a politician from the "change bloc," or in which he might be invited to join a coalition headed by Avigdor Liberman or Gadi Eisenkot.

"This government is not good for Israel, but there is no constellation," Winter said. "Because Gadi [Eisenkot] is left-wing, with Yair Golan and the Arabs, that is not an option for me. That is a government that is dangerous for the State of Israel."

Winter went on to call on political leaders to set aside personal considerations: "I am saying the time has come to wake up, stop your personal battles, stop the ego." He also addressed his party's standing in the polls and the pressure being applied to it, saying "they are afraid of us from all sides and therefore they have an interest in us not passing the threshold."
