Channel 12 journalist Yossi Mizrachi came out sharply Monday against the station's political correspondent Amit Segal, following the leak of messages between Segal and Yonatan Urich, an adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Screenshots from Urich's WhatsApp account were circulated Sunday night, showing exchanges with Segal. Israeli media figures claimed the messages showed Segal acting as a political consultant rather than a journalist, and questioned whether he should continue in his role.
Segal responded that he was sorry to burst the bubble, but that this is how the world works, it is the way to obtain information, and he and other journalists operate this way with everyone across the political map.
Mizrachi wrote: "Silence is filth. I protest vigorously against things that commentators have written and presented. This blatant propaganda for one side embarrasses (in my non-binding opinion) the news company." The message came as a reference to a past post Segal had written against Arad Nir, who also broadcasts on Channel 12.
