As the political system debates various scenarios around election results and the possibility of future legislation to prevent an indicted person from forming a government, left-wing commentator Uri Zaki has issued a sharp clarification, cooling the enthusiasm around the legal moves being discussed.
"Sorry to burst the balloons of Liberman and Bennett, but neither an indictee law nor a term-limit law will be able to apply to Netanyahu without first establishing a government not headed by him," Zaki wrote in a post. According to him, Netanyahu will rightly argue that this is personal, retroactive legislation designed to disqualify the choice of millions of citizens, and his assessment is that the legal system and the High Court will accept this position and immediately strike down the application of such measures.
