Voting in Israel's prison facilities closed Tuesday night at 8:00 PM, with ballot boxes sealed across all Israel Prison Service installations nationwide.
The Operations Division's final tally shows an 88.7% turnout among eligible inmates and detainees, a rate far above the general public's participation in recent elections.
All prisoners and detainees holding voting rights were given the opportunity to cast ballots, the Prison Service said in a statement.
The voting operation was approved and overseen by Prison Service Commissioner Kobi Yacobi, Superintendent-General, and led by the Operations Division in coordination with the elections administration established within the Incarceration Division's Prisoner Wing and the Central Elections Committee.
Throughout election day, judges and official observers visited the various prison facilities, monitoring the organizational and operational preparations and observing the voting process firsthand.
Prison guards and staff worked throughout the day to maintain order and security while ensuring a proper and confidential voting process in accordance with the law.
The Prison Service completed its election-day responsibilities while maintaining facility security and enabling all eligible inmates to exercise their voting rights.
