Israeli officials indicated that military operations in Lebanon could soon expand significantly as tensions with Hezbollah escalate alongside the war with Iran.

Following a security consultation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, defense officials said Israel is preparing for a broader campaign in Lebanon if Hezbollah continues its attacks.

A senior Israeli official said the coming day could shape the next phase of the fighting, adding that Israel is considering a substantial expansion of operations across the border.

Officials declined to specify what form the escalation might take, including whether it would involve a larger ground operation, but said the military is preparing for multiple scenarios.

Israeli leaders have also sent a message to Beirut through the United States and other Western intermediaries warning that if Hezbollah is not restrained, Israel could begin targeting Lebanese national infrastructure.

“The responsibility lies with the Lebanese state,” the message reportedly said.

According to Israeli assessments, there are indications that Hezbollah’s recent actions may be coordinated with Iran, raising concerns that the northern front could become more active as the wider regional conflict continues.

Israeli officials say Hezbollah’s actions appear aimed at forcing Israel to divert military resources away from operations against Iran.

Despite that pressure, officials say Israel believes it can continue operating on both fronts simultaneously if necessary.

Hezbollah announced it had launched a new military campaign against Israel, referring to the operation by a name drawn from a Quranic story describing the defeat of an invading army.

Israeli officials say the group’s actions could ultimately lead to a broader Israeli campaign inside Lebanon if attacks continue and the Lebanese government fails to curb Hezbollah’s activities.

Security officials say planning for expanded operations is already underway as Israel evaluates how the northern front could evolve in the coming days.
