Jessie J Reveals: “I’ve Been Diagnosed with Breast Cancer”

British singer-songwriter Jessie J (born Jessica Ellen Cornish, age 37) just announced via Instagram that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

According to a Walla Culture report, the cancer was detected at an early stage, and she is scheduled to undergo surgery following her performance at the Summertime Ball festival at Wembley Stadium in London later in June 2025. Jessie J, known for hits like “Price Tag” and “Domino,” shared that she has been undergoing frequent medical tests recently. She described cancer as “horrific in every form” but expressed optimism, stating, “I’m holding on to the word ‘early.’”

In her announcement, Jessie J noted she would “disappear for a bit” post-festival for the surgery, promising to return with more music.

She explained her decision to go public was partly to process her diagnosis, saying, “I’m not talking about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working too hard.” She also aimed to show solidarity with others, adding, “I know how much sharing in the past has helped me, when other people gave me their love, support, and their stories. I’m an open book.”

Jessie J has faced significant health challenges before. She was diagnosed with a heart condition (Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome) in childhood, suffered a stroke in her teens, and in 2020 temporarily lost her hearing due to Ménière’s disease, an inner ear disorder.

In 2021, she revealed a diagnosis of adenomyosis, a painful uterine condition, and suffered a miscarriage, which she openly discussed to support others. Despite these struggles, she welcomed her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in May 2023 with her partner, basketball player Chanan Safir Colman.
