Prominent conservative radio host and Fox News contributor Mark Levin sharply criticized the leak of details from a private phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it a violation of federal law that harms both the United States and Israel while benefiting adversaries.

The controversy stems from an Axios report published on June 1, 2026, co-authored by Barak Ravid and Marc Caputo. According to the article, Trump angrily confronted Netanyahu during a call over Israel’s planned military escalation in Lebanon amid heightened tensions with Hezbollah.

Citing U.S. officials briefed on the discussion, the report claimed Trump used strong language, telling Netanyahu: “You’re fucking crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this. What the fuck are you doing?” Trump reportedly pressured Netanyahu to cancel strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs (Dahiyeh), arguing that such actions risked derailing U.S. diplomatic efforts with Iran following threats from Tehran to exit negotiations. axios.com

Levin, a vocal supporter of both Trump and Netanyahu, responded on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “THE LEAK IN AXIOS WAS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW AND PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE IRANIAN REGIME AND ITS HEZBOLLAH PROXY.” He added that the person who leaked the story to Ravid “did a grave disservice to our country, to our president, to Israel, and to Israel’s prime minister.”

Levin argued that the disclosure portrays the U.S. as weak and desperate for a deal with Iran, even appearing to defend Hezbollah. He emphasized that any missiles fired would target Israelis, not Washington, and urged an FBI investigation into the leaker.

The Axios report emerged against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions, including Israeli operations against Hezbollah, rocket attacks on northern Israel, and delicate U.S.-led diplomacy involving Iran. White House readouts of the call described it more neutrally, while Netanyahu’s office maintained Israel’s right to respond to threats.

No official confirmation or denial of the call’s exact wording has been issued by the White House or Israeli government as of this reporting.
