A harrowing attempted kidnapping unfolded on Wednesday afternoon at a popular Miami Beach location, leaving a group of visiting mothers and witnesses deeply shaken. An emotionally disturbed woman suddenly grabbed and tried to abduct a baby from its mother near Collins Avenue and 36th Street.
The victims were a group of Jewish women from New York enjoying a short vacation together. According to eyewitnesses, the unknown woman swiftly approached the group and snatched the baby from the arms of one of the mothers. A frantic struggle immediately ensued as the women and at least one bystander gave chase to the suspect.
High-Speed Pursuit into the Water
Multiple 911 calls flooded the Miami Beach Police Department, prompting numerous police units to converge rapidly on the scene. As police sirens closed in, the suspect, realizing she was surrounded, dropped the child.
The woman then fled toward the ocean, wading deep into the surf in an apparent attempt to evade capture. Officers successfully corralled the suspect in the water and were able to take her into custody without further incident.
Following her apprehension, the woman was immediately transported to a local hospital where she is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, as authorities believe her actions were driven by a severe emotional disturbance.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect acted alone and that the incident appears to be entirely random, with no known prior connection between the woman and the victims. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released by police.
