Olaf Scholz on Shani Louk's Death: "Hamas' Barbarism"
The German Chancellor was responding to reports of German citizen Louk's death: "We need to hold the terrorist organization accountable."

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz responded today (Monday) to reports of the death of Shani Louk, the young woman documented being kidnapped to Gaza from the Re’im nature party in a Hamas clip. He attacked the terror organization, saying that the terrorists responsible for the attack must be held accountable.
“The news of the death of Shani Louk is terrible. This shows the barbarism behind Hamas’ attack,” Sholz said. “This is the reason that the terrorist organization needs to be held accountable.”
Louk had been previously documented in a Hamas clip being kidnapped to Gaza on October 7, lying on a truck surrounded by terrorists. It’s not clear if she was alive in the clip, but the assessment is that she was hospitalized in Gaza – after it was reported that use was made of her credit card at a local hospital. However, today her family was informed of her death.
The 22-year-old Louk had German citizenship, and her mother Ricarda had previously appealed to German authorities to help her locate her daughter. Despite this, this morning she told the RTL network that “unfortunately, we received the news yesterday that my daughter is no longer alive.”
