UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met today (Thursday) with a delegation of the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum at the World Economic Forum conference at Davos, where he personally met hostages released from Hamas captivity: Nili Margalit and Moran Stella Yanay. Noam Peri, the daughter of Haim Peri who is also being held in Gaza but has not yet been released, was also present at the meeting, as were representatives from the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum.

At the start of the meeting, the UN Secretary-General stressed that he called for the immediate release of all the hostages and also called for the investigation and trial of those responsible within Hamas for sex crimes.

Guterres also surprised those present at the meeting when he took out an identity disc mentioning the hostages, saying that “this disc is in the right pocket of my coat, where my hand is usually. I take it with me everywhere to remember the hostages each and every moment.”
