Pro-Israel British MP Mike Freer announced yesterday (Wednesday) that he would not run in the next elections due to a series of antisemitic attacks he recently experienced due to his support for the country.

Freer, known as a fervent supporter of Israel, wrote in a statement that “since my election as MP in 2010 I have sadly had several serious threats to my personal safety” and was stepping down.

Last December, Freer’s constituency office was set on fire after he once again expressed support for Israel, one of a number of such incidents he experienced and which led to his decision to leave public life.
