U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has released new footage and imagery of B-1B Lancer strategic bombers operating over the Middle East as part of Operation Epic Fury. The deployment of these supersonic heavy hitters marks a significant escalation in the ongoing campaign to dismantle the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure.
A Supersonic Powerhouse
The B-1B Lancer is a four-engine, supersonic strategic bomber capable of reaching speeds of Mach 1.2. CENTCOM emphasized the unique capabilities of the aircraft, which holds multiple world records for speed, payload, and range.
Payload and Capacity: Each Lancer can carry a massive munitions load of up to 75,000 pounds (34 tons). This allows the U.S. to strike a large number of hardened targets in a single sortie.
Strategic Mission: According to the report, the bombers were documented performing long-range missions over the region to support the dismantling of Iranian missile sites and command centers.
The Allied Air Bridge
Military analysts have noted an unprecedented concentration of strategic bombers currently stationed at RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom. This "bomber hub" currently hosts 12 B-1B Lancers and 6 B-52H Stratofortresses, allowing for a continuous cycle of heavy strikes against Iranian military assets.
